8 went out on the 7th of this moon (28th June) to the "Ham bheung" stop junk with the Captain now present.
J. 20: 4: 5 paid at the haid saw 127: Customs Station.
In Jan Hour. This was paid in the presence of the Captain and others to the number of eight marked mew. I saw the receipt given to the Captain. The weight of the Camphor as given in that receipt is right, but the number of tubs is wrong; planks are represented as Camphor wood. These two junks in question were each paid for by impelt who weighed the goods.
'Ink Man paid the money to the Inaw at the Hung-King Hong about this Colony the 11th Instant (2nd July) in the presence of 5 men. His money was paid in the presence of Thim wan interested in another junk.
The reason of that payment was to make the Camphor-wood weigh light. The normal weight a man makes them 80 catties(!!) a plank is 55 catties and the weighing 644.70. (at Pelo: Catties mace per picul). That is the right weight of the wood which I shall explain again.
Ayar is 185 bags weighing 55 piculs of 55 Catties. That is the correct weight.
The four junks I have referred to carried camphor; the payment was for these two junks and the others.
The other junks are named the 'Mam ein Li" and "My-Shin-zik?".
I have been trading with Formosa for 9 years. These duties were never paid till the time of the "Harn-Hopeding" base-wood.
